Today in the US is the Muscular Dystrophy telethon, hosted every year by Jerry Lewis, who for reasons that escape me has always been considered very funny by many francophones, even here (though he was never as big here as he was in France). Maybe it had something to do with the fact that his movies were dubbed in French. Maybe he was funnier translated, who knows. Anyway, many bloggers in the US disability community today are writing to protest pity, something telethons rely heavily upon to get donations. For a good round-up of related blog posts, check out Kara Sheridan’s Anti-Telethon Blogswarm.
